The Benefits of Goat Milk Soap

Goat milk is the key ingredient in our soap. It has a multitude of skin benefits making it the perfect addition.

Exfoliation

Goat milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids, such as lactic acid, which help remove dead skin cells from your skin’s surface. This leaves new cells on the surface of your skin that are smoother and younger looking. The alpha-hydroxy acids are so effective because they break down the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together. Removing dead skin cells will help many skin conditions by removing irritation.

Vitamins

Goat milk contains many vitamins, but is particularly high in Vitamin A, which is necessary to repair damaged skin tissue, and maintain healthy skin. There have been several medical studies showing that creams made with Vitamin A reduce lines and wrinkles, control acne, and provide some psoriasis and eczema relief.

Minerals

Goat milk contains important minerals for the skin such as selenium. Selenium is believed by scientists to have an important role in preventing skin cancer. Selenium can also help prevent damage to the skin from excessive time in the sun.

Absorption

Goat milk is easily absorbed by the skin. Your skin is a barrier.  In order for a substance to penetrate the skin, it must first make its way past the tightly packed layers of dead skin cells that cover the outside of the epidermis. Fats are able to make their way through the layers and into your body. Since goat milk is comprised of medium chain fatty acids and short protein strands it can easily penetrate the dead cells and reach the layers of living tissue hidden beneath. The increased absorption ability of goat milk allows for intense hydration of the skin and effective delivery of the fat-soluble vitamins to the living tissue hidden beneath.

Protection

Goat milk is high in vitamin A and E, which are anti-oxidants. These vitamins can decrease the potential oxidative stress in your skin by neutralizing free radicals before any damage occurs. Free radicals are atoms that are missing an electron which makes them unstable. They try to become stabilized by stealing electrons from other atoms which can harm cellular DNA resulting in wrinkles, fine lines, and dry skin. One of the most common causes of free radicals is sun damage. Antioxidants like vitamins A and E donate an electron to free radicals so that they don’t have to steal electrons from your healthy cells.

The result is healthy youthful looking skin you are proud to show off.
